My current work takes the form of mainly abstract paintings, drawings and collages exploring multiple themes. The cycle of birth and rebirth in life and in nature is key. Experience is the source of the subject matter not mimetic transcriptions. I am seeking a pictorial equivalent of emotional situations and as such, have a particular interest in nature as a source and as a symbol of the individual existential state.

Drawing on both art and literary reference I aim to investigate a personal iconography that embodies the individuals place in the world. By exploring themes such as the notion of "Duende", "Reise" and "Hiraeth" I am trying to harness the materiality of paint to create abstractions of memories. Journeys real and metaphorical, places of arrival and departure, the slippage between the present and the past. The ultimate awareness that death is a precondition of new life. The bonds that tie us and drive us apart. The multiple complexities of being alive and leaving a mark.
